This fall, you’d usually find me doing one of two things: running or resting from my runs. This is the soundtrack that accompanied me along the way.
Death & Romance | Magdalena Bay
Listen to this, then go listen to all of Imaginal Disk. It’s especially impressive as Matthew & Mica (aka Magdalena Bay) composed, wrote, and produced everything themselves. I’m in space!
Odoriko | Vaundy
Odoriko’s bassline lives in my veins. Captures the space between hurting someone because you had to and the regret that comes with it. The music video is shot beautifully, don’t miss it!
Hold Me Up (Thank You) | Khruangbin
Sparks | Coldplay
I’ve never liked Coldplay, I find them flavorless. Despite this, I decided to check out their first album with an open mind. After all, their success today is two decades separated from their roots. I was surprised; I knew most of the songs just through cultural osmosis. Even more surprising, it was really good.
Good at Breaking Hearts | Jungle ft. JNR WILLIAMS, 33.3
This sounds like a dream, played in the background of your subconscious, or the waiting room before entering limbo.
The Distance | Cake
He’ going the distance, he’s going for speeeeeeed
Whiplash | Aespa
Picture: I’m heading home after a long night in LA. The lights of the city blur. Suddenly my Honda Civic (2008) is a sleek supercar.
Fun fact: Most of the metal props in the mv are real
St. Chroma (ft. Daniel Caesar) | Tyler the Creator
Goalkeeper | Chinese Football
Picture: I’m catching up with some TTRPG friends before we start a session, I’ve had an iced matcha. I feel joy, like a bird landing on my shoulder.
Get Lost | Killen.
A friend told me this song sounds like “honeycombs forming in my brain”, I agree. Recently, things have been pretty cold. Life for me is either holding on tight or holding on less tight. Tis the season
